Traditional Drop-In Seat Course

Learn the time honoured traditional upholstery skills to complete a Drop-In Seat 

 Course Difficulty Level: Novice

Course Length: 2 Days 09.30 - 16.00

Course Cost: £295

This course introduces you to the foundation techniques of traditional upholstery -  such as webbing, hand tacking, horsehair stuffing, stitching etc.. You'll work on a beech wood drop-in seat frame which includes the fixings for you to attach a set of legs after completing the upholstery if you so choose. The legs aren't included in the course but we can help you source them.

You will learn about the tools and materials of upholstery and the grading of upholstery fabric. 

Class sizes limited to 4. Lots of individual attention from master upholsterers. 

Course Fees include tuition, beechdrop-in frame and upholstery materials. Equipment and upholstery tools are available for use in the workroom.  Your choice of top fabrics are extra - we have lots to choose from.

 

Traditional Footstool Course

Learn the time honoured traditional upholstery skills to complete a footstool

 Course Difficulty Level: Intermediate, Improver

Course Length: 3.5 Days 09.30-16.00 and 9.30 - 13.00 on the last day

Course Cost: £460

This course follows on from the Traditional Drop-In Seat Course and further develops the foundation techniques of traditional upholstery -  such as webbing, springing, lashing, hand tacking, horsehair stuffing etc.

You will learn about the tools and materials of upholstery and complete hands-on basic wood finishing. You’ll explore various finishing options to customise your stool.

Class sizes limited to 4. Lots of individual attention from master upholsterers. 

Course Fees include tuition, footstool frame and upholstery materials. Equipment and upholstery tools are available for use in the workroom.  Your choice of top fabrics are extra - we have lots to choose from.

 

 Modern Drop-In Seat Course

Learn the modern upholstery skills to complete a Drop-In Seat 

Course Difficulty Level: Novice

Course Length: 1 Day 09.30 - 16.00

Course Cost £150

 This course introduces you to the foundation techniques of modern upholstery -  such as webbing and handling foam. You'll work on a beech wood drop-in seat frame which includes the fixings for you to attach a set of legs after completing the upholstery if you so choose. This course follows on from Modern Drop-In Seat Course and you will learn how to use Modern Upholstery materials to create your own footstool.

You will learn about the tools and materials of upholstery and complete hands-on basic wood finishing. You’ll explore various finishing options to customise your stool.

 Modern Deep Buttoned Footstool Course

Learn the hallmarks of deep buttoning

Course Difficulty Level: Intermediate.

Course Length: 2 Days 09.30 - 16.00

This course follows on from Modern Drop-In Course and you will advance your knowledge through learning how to button into your footstool to create the folds and diamond pattern that are essential for traditional deep buttoning.

You will learn about the tools and materials of upholstery and complete hands-on basic wood finishing. You’ll explore various finishing options to customise your stool.

Modern Upholstered Headboard Course 1

Learn how to make a beautiful custom headboard 

 Course Difficulty Level: Novice

Course Length: 1 Day 09.30 - 16.00

Course Cost: £140

On this course you will learn how to use Modern Upholstery materials to create your own 50cm x 60cm sample size headboard; progressing from a blank board to a beautiful, unique headboard.  You’ll explore various finishing options to customise it to suit your own taste and style.

Modern Upholstered Headboard Course 2

Learn how to make bespoke and creative headboards

 Course Difficulty Level: Intermediate

Course Length: 3 Days 09.30 - 16.00

Course Cost: £425

A headboard adds the finishing touch to most bedroom schemes and the creative design options are seemingly unlimited.

This 3 day course follows on from Modern Upholstered Headboard Course 1 and focuses on the unique and creative techniques of modern headboards, such as borders, piping, pleats, flutes, decorative nails, buttoning etc. You will learn how to create templates and transfer these to the boards as well as exploring various fixing attachments.

You will leave the course with a set of sample size headboards. Please note that you will not make a full sized headboard on this course, but are most welcome to book onto a 2 day course to make your own headboard under the watchful eyes of a master upholsterer.

Friday Morning Open Upholstery - Traditional or Modern

Work on Your Own Project With Our Assistance

 Course Difficulty Level: Open to All

Course Length: 4 hours 09.00-13.00

Course Cost: £120

If you have a special project which you'd like to complete you are most welcome to book onto our Friday morning Open Upholstery Course. This is 4 hours when you can work on whatever you'd like. You're welcome to book as many Friday morning as you want.

Do you have a set of dining chairs you're longing to reupholster? Or an old family favourite chair in need of tlc? A wingback chair? Please bring any piece of furniture and we'll help and guide you to reach your goals.

Class size limited to 4. Lots of individual attention from master upholsterers. 

Course Fees include tuition. Equipment and upholstery tools are available for use in the workroom. Upholstery materials and top fabrics are extra.
